Angela’s Lab | My Nordstrom Sale Must-Haves!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Every July. And, a back-to-school / fall shopping tradition for me as far back as I can remember. Having grown up in Seattle, Nordstrom was always THE place to shop. My daughter and I are carrying on the tradition and every year we enjoy the pre-sale event where I add new fall must-haves to my closet and she chooses (with guidance!) her back-to-school wardrobe. I love that she loves fashion as much as I do and she actually has a great eye already at the ripe old age of 7. (Or as she would say — “I’m really 8 because my birthday’s in a few weeks!” Remember when you wanted to be older??!) Here are my picks from the pre-sale. Modern Menswear | I always love a great menswear look for fall and fell for these perfect-fitting (3) Theory cropped pants and soft (1) cashmere sweater also by Theory, which will pair with countless other pieces, including denim and skirts. Super versatile! You’ll see me wearing this ensemble with my new (11) chunky oxfords by Paul Green, a statement watch and my (2) favorite ear crawlers (these actually stay on your ear!). NOTE: The Paul Green oxfords pictured unfortunately sold out, but here is a similar pair also on sale.

Polished Perfection | Worth every penny, this (4) St. John Collection dress is classic and tailored with a twist — I love the fringe  detail!  This look will work for so many occasions – from the office to meetings to dinner to church and special events – and looks elegant and polished at any age.

Statement Sunnies | Who among us doesn’t need a new, updated pair of sunnies?! These fab (5) crystal-tipped retro shades by Fendi are so on-trend and now is the time to buy! If you want a different look or shape, there are tons of new styles on sale.

Iconic Knit | This iconic (6) Missoni knit dress is so easy to wear and style — keep your accessories simple, this dress makes it’s own statement. I’ll be wearing it with suede booties for a more casual look or patent pumps in a professional environment. Another classic addition to your wardrobe.

Double-Duty Denim | Denim is my daily go-to and this (7) cropped and frayed pair from Joe’s is everything. I will be wearing them with my new (10) Milly butterfly sweater, (9) statement bracelet stack (there are three different color groupings on sale for $65.90!) and (8) booties by Rag & Bone. Plus, they will look fab with my black Theory sweater and oxfords. Mix it up! (Need a larger size in cute cropped jeans? Eileen Fisher has you covered!) NOTE: The Milly sweater unfortunately sold out… but I also like this sweater with its pretty lace detail.

Updated Handbag | I need (okay, want) a new handbag for fall and love (12) 3.1 Phillip Lim’s bucket bag which will go with just about everything in my daytime rotation. The sleek leather and modern hardware detail give it an updated, sophisticated look. NOTE: The handbag pictured unfortunately sold out… but I also like this one by Coach.

You can purchase all these items right now online if you are a Nordstrom card holder (early access time!) or the official sale starts on July 22nd for everyone. Be forewarned, some items will sell out during the early access period. Plus, there are often special designer pieces that are limited in supply and don’t ever even reach the selling floor or website, thus you need to connect with a personal shopper, stat.
