Office Party Style Star

Dressing appropriately for your office party is an art. Always lean on the conservative side, even in a more creative workplace. No one wants their choice of attire to be the topic of discussion around the water cooler on Monday morning. However, you can have fun and show your festive flair with pattern, color, embellishments and luxe fabrics. The theme is “eye-catching and covered.” Keep your sparkling wit and personality on display, not your umm… other assets.

Glorious Glitter

If you work in a creative field, you have more style flexibility – revel in color, sparkling accents, and flirty skirts. However, it’s still important to remember you are dressing for a WORK party. Make sure the skirt isn’t too short – if it’s more than 3 inches above your knee reconsider the length and at the very least add opaque tights. And please no cleavage! People will make assumptions based on what you’re wearing.

Festive Floral

A playful sheath dress with a built-in jeweled necklace is the perfect solution for most office parties and takes the guesswork out of styling. Paired with a bootie, the look has a slightly more casual feel and you’re ready for drinks with your co-workers. Switch out the booties for a dressy metallic evening sandal and you are off to a semi-formal occasion.

Brilliant Brocade

For a slightly more conservative office, think luxe fabrics like brocade or velvet (nothing slinky or too tight!) and a glimmering cardigan. A sheath dress with a conservative neckline reads classy and the wearer will be taken more seriously. Accessorize with glittering chandelier earrings and contrasting, complementary minaudière and voilà, you are party perfect.

Sheer Splendor

You’ve just received the invitation for your work holiday party and the dress is “Festive After 5.” What???!! Translation: Festive – holiday; After 5 – cocktail attire. You can’t go wrong with a black cocktail dress. Ladylike and elegant with a sheer sleeve and flared skirt is figure-flattering and will always make the best-dressed list. Complete the look with sparkly jewelry and embellished evening pumps.
