Ask Our Style Techs | Have No Fear of Sheer
I love the look of a sheer sleeve or sheer cutouts on a garment, but am afraid to give it a try. Do you have any recommendations on how to wear it so I can take a personal risk without looking like I don’t know what I’m doing? – Susan F.
As if trying a trend that is new to you isn’t scary enough, then throw in a seemingly “revealing” style, and it’s easy to shy away. All the showing of crop tops, cut-outs and sheer panels on the runway can be a little tricky when it comes to putting it on your own body — we get it! Here are a few ways to make sheer elegant, on-trend, sometimes sexy, and most importantly, wearable.
Try a darker color.
Top, Vince Camuto // Tweed Dress, Ann Taylor // Dress, Emilio Pucci
Keep the sheer detail on an area that isn’t too revealing (arm, shoulder, lower leg).
L to R: Dress, Sachin + Babi // Dress, Tadashi Shoji // Dress, Aqua
Wear the proper undergarments.
