Moms on the Go

Q: I have an active child that has a very full schedule. We are constantly running from point A to point B, which means a few outfit changes for her throughout the day. I’d like to change my look according to the places we go, but can’t lug around all her things plus mine. Can you suggest a couple of pieces I could keep in my car to help me look appropriate for all our stops? – Jessica N.

A: It’s always a good idea to have some fashion emergency pieces ready to go. If you can keep an organized stash in your car, a couple of great pieces to add would be:

– A colorful or patterned scarf. Often times we forget about this little gem of an accessory, but what better way to tie together a tee and jeans than a uniquely-tied scarf? A simple way to tie and go is to fold the scarf in half lengthwise, place around your neck and pull the ends through the “looped” end. For additional ideas, Pinterest will show you a variety of ways to tie them so your style looks put together and “on purpose.”

– A blazer or cute military jacket. Whether you are walking into an air-conditioned ballet studio or indoor soccer stadium, it’s always good to have a layering piece on hand. Blazers look great over a flowy blouse, tee or even a work dress. Either one of these styles will finish off your look and transform what you were wearing to edgy or polished.

– A statement necklace. Buy one in relatively neutral colorway and a necklace will up-level your basic tee faster than you can say “1,2,3”!
