Mix It Up: How to Dress Street Party Chic
At MSL, we attend a lot of fashion-forward events and recently received an invitation to one that had us especially excited about what to wear. The attire: Street Chic. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, otherwise referred to as SMoCA, is hosting their annual SMoCA Mix fundraiser on Saturday, May 2nd from 6-10pm with an innovative “street art” event. (Get your tickets here!) The evening promises to be fun and relaxed (no sit-down dinner here!) with guests wandering through the museum, which will be taken over and transformed by renowned Phoenix graffiti artist Lalo Cota and his team of muralists! In addition, there will be street performance artists, magicians and hip-hop dancers, along with dancing, hosted food & drink stations, and a silent auction. Essentially, a super-hip, upscale “street chic” party.
So, what to wear?? Set aside the ’70s boho, ladies, we’re thinking edgy cutouts, black & white, graphic prints and pops of color. Complete your look with statement accessories. Sexy, but savvy and chic. Here are the looks at the top of our list.
Look 1 | Talk about an entrance maker, this asymmetrical mini had us at our first look. An investment piece for sure. We found a few other amazing, more affordable black & white dresses as well by Helmut Lang and Laundry by Shelli Segal.
Dress, Anthony Vaccarello // Sandals, Stuart Weitzman // Clutch, Mango // Leather Cuff, Salvatore Ferragamo
Look 2 | Bold color and graphic design — this dress is a work of art. And we love the slimming line of the print! Here are two other head-turning graphic prints we found and both are on sale, no less — by Trina Turk and Just Cavalli.
Look 3 | From the cutout LBD to the graphic print heels and spiky ear cuff, this ensemble is street-party perfect. We also love this cutout dress from 3.1 Phillip Lim.
Dress, Topshop // Sandals, Alice+Olivia // Clutch, Diane von Furstenberg // Ear Cuff, Ryan Storer
Look 4 | This white-haute culotte jumpsuit paired with bright sandals and funky jewelry look both modern and on-trend.
Jumpsuit, Tibi // Sandals, Tibi // Clutch, Whistles // Choker, Michael Kors // Plexiglas Cuff, Valentino
