Red, White & Blue Done Right
The Fourth of July brings out patriotism and pride in our country like no other holiday. Fireworks, picnics, parades, hot dogs, flags and red, white & blue all say “I’m proud to be an American!” We love it. The Fourth can also prompt some pretty cheesy fashion. No muscle tees with flags, please. Or a striped top with star-print shorts. MSL has tips on how to dress in a way that shows your patriotism without looking over the top. And good news, we found a ton of pieces on sale!
Use denim as the base for your look, then add red as an accent color.
Shirt, Joe’s Jeans (On Sale!) // Shorts, Joe’s Jeans (On Sale!) // Shoes, French Connection (On Sale!) // Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs
Stripes are chic and in the form of a shift dress, can be paired with sneakers or strappy sandals.
Dress, Theory // Handbag, Marc by Marc Jacobs // Shoes, Burberry // Hat, Michael Stars
When wearing “red, white & blue” keep one color as your primary base and use the other two as accents via accessories.
Jumpsuit, Trina Turk // Shoes, Sole Society (On Sale!) // Necklace, Kate Spade (On Sale!) // Sunglasses, Lanvin
Star-spangled pieces can be cute, just not all over. Keep the stars to one piece.
Sweatshirt, Wildfox // Shorts, Two by Vince Camuto (On Sale!) // Sandals, Kate Spade // Bracelet, Original Tribe (Only $15!)
The great thing about these looks is they have staying power and can be worn all summer long.
Happy Fourth of July!
