Top 5 Spring 2021 Essential Accessories
The IT accessories this season do not disappoint. The bold, flirty ’80s vibes, with a nod to the ’90s, are not lost on us. Of course, playing a starring role in the inspiration is the pandemic 2020s, since it’s apparent that these accessory trends are all zoom-friendly and face-flattering. And, like the current feel running through clothing, the flat to low-heeled shoe trend is about chic-comfort. While some of us are starting to get out and about more these days (fingers crossed we keep future lockdowns at bay!), we’re still doing it sporting more comfortable styles, as supposed to stilettos. While we love getting dressed up, we’re not missing the long days and nights tottering around in uncomfortable shoes that is for sure. As the days grow longer and sunnier, embrace fashion’s fun mood and in the words of the iconic, accessory-loving fashionista, Iris Apfel, remember that “more is more and less is a bore”!
1 | Fancy Headbands
These outfit makers aren’t going anywhere. They continue to be a great choice on Zoom meetings or to pushback and freshen up day-old hair. On the luxe end of the spectrum, Lele Sadoughi (J. Crew alum designer) has gorgeous styles and even mini-and-me pairings. And, Nordstrom has some terrific affordable styles that you’ll want to snap up without hesitation! A pretty headband + dry shampoo (which we now wonder how we ever lived without it?!) and you’re good to go. By the way, our favorite brand of dry shampoo has to be Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo – the smell is heavenly. Or Drybar smells pretty too, and Batiste has a fresh scent and is more affordable.
2 | Showstopper Earrings
Bigger is better as the saying goes, and statement earrings are a must-have this spring. A fantastic, affordable resource for bold earrings on the regular is LOBE LOVE. A woman-owned small business, blogger Jenn Lloyd curates four delicious statement earrings every quarter and ships them to you for just $49. I don’t know about you, but I normally spend at least that on just one pair. Or, you can save more by signing up for a year and four special deliveries, just $179. That’s 16 pairs of zoom-ready, stylish adornments for your lobes. LOVE.
If you shy away from committing without checking out the jewelry first, you can also order the “Sample the Statements” collection for a one-time payment of $49.
On the higher end, Lele Sadoughi does it again with beautiful and unique statement earrings. However, these pretties will run you closer to $200 per pair.
3 | Sporty Flats
Designer Birkenstock-inspired sandals. Flatforms. Sticking with the comfy – yet stylish – theme, this season it’s all about the flats. And, we are here for it!
4 | Woven Slides
This is the shoe everyone will be wearing this season. A dressier style than “sporty flats,” but still low enough to be comfortable, the woven slides are ready for event season. And, if the event is outside on the grass vs. a patio, be sure to shop for a chunky heel.
5 | Carryall Totes
Who else is breathing a sigh of relief that ginormous bags are back?! Designers finally gave up on the mini bags that are adorable, but simply not practical. Whew. The selection is broad, but if you can swing it, this is the piece to invest in a designer brand.
