Angela’s Lab | 3 Ways to Wear Pink for Breast Cancer
It’s that time of year again — Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The usual happenings are going on, from events such as Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure, pink products being sold with a portion of proceeds going to fight the cause, buildings lit up pink, and the list goes on. Breast cancer (and cancer in general) is an epidemic. Last year at this time, I wrote about my own mom and her fight with this horrible disease. She continues to fight and undergo aggressive treatments. Her upbeat, positive attitude is an inspiration, and she is one of the bravest people I know. Of course, I keep praying that the cancer will miraculously disappear, so she can get past the fatigue and other side effects that go along with her chemo treatment and go back to the business of enjoying life. I know many of you can relate… it’s heart-wrenching to watch someone you love going through devastating health problems.
On a lighter note, this October I decided that I’d turn the spotlight onto Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure initiative and what to wear to the Key to the Cure fashion show event on October 28 in Phoenix, which locally benefits TGen. While it doesn’t focus only on breast cancer, this powerful corporate initiative and charity shopping weekend (October 27-30) that Saks Fifth Avenue has sponsored for 18 years now, has raised close to $40 million for cancer research and treatment organizations throughout the United States. Halle Berry is this year’s campaign ambassador and wears the latest “Key to the Cure” tee designed by everyone’s favorite shoe designer Christian Louboutin in the ad campaign. 100% of the proceeds from sales of the $35 tee are donated to Stand Up to Cancer.
So what to wear to the big event? Pink, of course! I pulled together three different ways to wear pink and represent the fight against breast cancer at Key to the Cure.
