Angela’s Lab | Michael Costello Wows at Scottsdale Fashion Week
The highlight of Scottsdale Fashion Week had to be the spectacular runway show on opening night at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale, featuring the hugely-talented Michael Costello, a Project Runway alum that has dressed an impressive list of celebs, from Beyonce and JLo to Gwen Stefani. His primarily black collection of drop-dead gorgeous gowns is beautifully tailored and celebrates a woman’s curves. If you are in need of an ultra-glam gown and aren’t afraid to make an entrance, Michael Costello is your guy.
Among my favorites were these sexy, curve-hugging black gowns…
this teal sequin stunner…
and this rich brocade dress with a high-low hemline.
There were also a number of dramatic, sheer gowns made for the stage and your next trip to Vegas with strategically-placed fabric, which looked amazing on the models from FORD/Robert Black walking in the show.

Michael’s current collection was inspired by the beautiful Brigitte Bardot, and the look of the models was designed with the famous actress in mind. The hair and makeup was created by Scottsdale Fashion Week’s official hair and makeup team, Glam Lounge Artists. (We’ll have more later on how to get the look and what products the team swears by in our backstage interview with Diane Aiello, owner of Glam Lounge Artists. Stay tuned!)

Scottsdale Fashion Week (SFW) had been a thing of the past until now, when Steve LeVine Entertainment, FORD/Robert Black Agency and J Group Media decided to revive it and give the extravaganza a splashy, entertainment vibe. Different from Phoenix Fashion Week which is more about showcasing emerging talent and bringing together buyers and designers, SFW is a high-end fashion celebration, complete with a VIP experience, celebrities and collections that are currently available to run out and buy.

I can’t wait to see what next year brings for SFW!
