Angela’s Lab | My Nordstrom Sale Picks + Shopping Tips
It’s that time of year again… fall fashion on SALE in July…. the highly-anticipated Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! My daughter and I generally hit the first day of early access for Nordstrom cardholders and make a day of it, but this year she’s at camp all week, so we’ll be doing our annual mother-daughter back-to-school shopping trip this weekend. Naturally, I couldn’t wait that long, and hit the store and website to shop and pre-scout for her as well. Who else’s kids are at the age where it’s become difficult to shop for them?? I’m running at a rate of being “right ” with my choices for her about 50% of the time… and I imagine that will continue to decrease over the next few years…. ugh. Anyway, back to the sale! I’m sharing my top sale picks in the areas of clothing, shoes and accessories below, plus I have a few tips for making the most of this yearly event. And, if you don’t have a Nordstrom credit card, it’s worth signing up, not only to get early access to this awesome sale, but they also have a terrific rewards program where you get money back on purchases to apply to future Nordstrom purchases. Woot, woot — “free” money!
My tips for shopping the Anniversary Sale:
- Do a quick closet review and determine what basics you need such as new jeans, a white blouse or booties. What do you wear on a regular basis? This is the ideal time to refresh your go-to wardrobe for fall.
- Invest in a couple of great classics, like a beautiful coat or elegant dress. Some of our favorite designers such as Lela Rose, Proenza Schouler and Rebecca Taylor put a few select items on sale. Yay!
- Stock up on beauty items that you use on a regular basis or buy the ones you’ve been wanting to try.
- It’s also a terrific time to shop for holiday gifts! From jewelry and handbags to perfume and makeup palettes to home items, take this opportunity to buy for people on your list.
It may be too warm for layering now, but you’ll be happy come cooler weather that you added a pretty new jacket to your closet. There are a number of terrific looks, including these fashionable lovelies.
Dresses are where it’s at this season and we all need a fall favorite that fits and flatters. These four are very different, but I love each one for different reasons and occasions. The red floral I’m layering over cropped pinstripe pants and adding metallic heels.
Separates are essential for layering and mixing. These pieces are super versatile and sure to become everyday staples.
A great pair of shoes elevates any outfit. Metallic and patterns, boots and mules, the choices are broad. Here are a few of my favs.
Alexander Wang Boots (Sale $450.90, After $695) // Vince Camuto Booties (Sale $99.90, After $149.95) // Caslon Sneakers (Sale $64.90, After $99.95) // Ted Baker London Heels (Sale $129.90, After $194.95) // Louise et Cie Mules (Sale $84.90, After $129.95)
And, accessories are always the key to personalizing your look and adding that touch of flair.
Treasure & Bond Scarf (Sale $51.90, After $79) // Bandolier Crossbody Phone Case (Sale $123.90, After $166) // MCM Duffel (Sale $749.90, After $1,125 — in pink or black) // Nadri Hoops (Sale $72.90, After $110) // Stella McCartney Aviators (Sale $230.90, After $345)
Note that “early access” to the sale for Nordstrom cardholders only runs through July 19th, then the sale opens up to the general public on July 20th. Some items are available in limited quantities though and will sell out, especially designer pieces.
