Angela’s Lab | What I Want to Wear from NYFW
New York Fashion Week… one big, fabulous party and so many shows that it’s overwhelming, but so thrilling at the same time. A lot like New York City itself. Back in the day, pre-baby, I used to attend as many shows as I could squeeze in. Many of the standouts then are still the can’t-miss shows now, including Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen and Michael Kors.
I found so many great, wearable looks and a few trends on the runways that I really embrace for Fall 2014. Metallics, dark plaids, luxe fur trim, long vests, mixed media, intricate cutouts, maybe a cape and probably the updated cropped wide-leg pants with boots. You may notice that I didn’t include the midi skirt on my list – if you have a tiny waist and are tall, this is a great look – just not my favorite. A skirt that hits right above the knee is my go-to and the more flattering look on pretty much everyone. Over-the-knee boots are still haute, as are booties and menswear-inspired shoes.

Other looks that were #trending, you will not see me in because a) they are not flattering, and b) they don’t even look good on the models who are size 00. These looks include the “Big Bird” look, the extreme puffer coat, and western-inspired ponchos. I’d also like to give a shout out to end the furry shoe trend and pom-poms or ultra-long fringes on handbags. Oh and just say no to the ’80s-flashback prom dress. Yuck.
