Of course, it’s no longer called a fanny pack, because that’s SO ’80s! It has a new, more sophisticated name to rebrand its “little old lady” image and is now known as the oh-so-chic “belt bag.” After hitting the height of popularity a few decades ago, it went from youthful at the time to a must-have for older folks and lost it’s hip image faster than you can say…. well… fanny pack. Designers brought this old favorite back a few years ago and the old-new trend has really picked up momentum. But, don’t try to grab your old fanny pack… gone are the cheap nylon versions of yesteryear and they’ve been replaced by leather designer styles from the likes of Gucci and Chloé. It’s ideal for traveling, exercising or simply running errands, and it keeps your hands free to hold hands with your kids like SJP or snap a photo with your iPhone. Welcome back, fanny pack!
