Get in My Fall Closet + “Sip, Shop & Style” at Saks Highlights

Fact: If you ask a random group of women what their favorite season is for fashion, the majority will enthusiastically respond — fall, of course!! Why? Well, fall styles are notorious for their sophistication, tailoring, luxe accents, and rich textured fabrics. Yum! And, who doesn’t love to layer? Fall gives the fashion lover lots of room for styling and customization. The Fall 2019 collections are an impressive mix of classics like precision-cut tailored suits and separates, a variety of animal prints (especially leopard and python) and cozy knits. On the trendier side, we’re seeing an ’80s and ’90s resurgence – think heavy gold metal, scarf prints, bow-tie blouses, the cape, and patent leather. Overall, the mood for the season is one of dramatic, entrance-making style, with an emphasis on balancing strong silhouettes with feminine details. Oh, and in case you haven’t noticed, the designer logos are back to being prominently on display, from the popular GG belt to the logo-emblazoned clothing (keep scrolling for a peek at the fabulous FENDI fur!). Soooo very ’80s, right?

Mom Style Lab recently partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to host our fourth annual “Sip, Shop & Style” fall trend event at the Biltmore Fashion Park store. We also talked about the importance of creating a capsule wardrobe to make getting dressed and out the door easier in the morning. (For more on essential capsule wardrobe pieces, watch our video.) In addition, we were also excited to welcome Iconic Life magazine to the event and they sponsored a fabulous Saks shopping spree giveaway! Publisher Renee Dee and marketing guru Taylor Grewe joined us for the soiree. They also featured a preview of event looks styled by Angela in the magazine this month — read more about it! Look 2 | Everyday casual is elevated on Brooke with a classic Theory wrap jacket and designer sneakers. An animal print cashmere sweater and camo jeans by Hudson make the perfect large-small print mix.

Look 3 | The haute-est new way to layer is to pair a dress like this one by Zimmerman with your fav Frame denim like we did here or dress pants! If you layer with a shirt dress, you try unbuttoning the front from the waist down to show off the pants better.

Look 4 | This dark floral Cinq a Sept dress is perfect for fall special events, from luncheons to weddings. We love it paired with a great animal print heel like this one by Christian Louboutin.

Look 5 | Need some energy and sass to jumpstart your day?? This mix of color, textures and print separates by Alice + Olivia will do it! Shop the velvet blazer, print top and sequin skirt. Nude heels don’t compete with the clothes and lengthen your legs.

Look 6 | This is a classic Theory blazer and black pants combo that won’t ever go out of style. The python top, Saint Laurent heels, and FENDI scalloped satchel make it fresh.

Look 7 | Stella McCartney knows how to make a dress and this caped, one-shoulder number is no exception! Paired with dressy heels, a CHANEL clutch and statement cuff (in store only).

Look 8 | We love this haute Alice + Olivia gold python dress layered with our Joie moto jacket – there is it again! SO versatile. The Bottega Veneta clutch and Saint Laurent Tribute heels finish the look.

Look 9 | This sexy Helmet Lang power-red satin suit is accessorized with a sparkling CHANEL statement drop necklace (in store only). WOW, just WOW.

Look 10 | This entrance-making Chiara Boni column gown paired with a stunning fur coat by FENDI (in store only)is ideal for gala season. We completed the look with Saint Laurent heels and a Christian Louboutin clutch.
