Over 265,000 women in the U.S. alone this year will learn that they have breast or ovarian cancer. And, over 55,000 of them will die of these two horrible diseases. My mother was one of them. She passed away almost two years ago after a seven-year battle with breast cancer that was caught very early and she chose to have a mastectomy, only to have it come back five years later, stage 4. Heart breaking for her and us. As a result, Saks Fifth Avenue's annual Key to the Cure initiative during October, which also happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is very personal to me. I especially appreciate that in Phoenix the ...Read more.
Every year about this time when the weather starts to cool down, our hands begin to get rough and cracked, especially the skin around our nails. Plus, we're heading into cold and flu season, so we are washing our hands continuously, which only makes matters worse. So. Not. Touchable. Our friend and beauty goddess, Saks beauty advisor Lisa Moore, recently introduced us to this non-greasy (seriously!) miracle hand cream by Chanel that softens our hands and prevents the cracks from forming on our fingers. It promises to hydrate for 8 hours! If that's not enough, this luxurious cream is infused with Iris pallida to ...Read more.
The Fall 2018 collections are an impressive mix of classics like plaid, animal prints, and tailored suiting -- indicative of our strong women’s empowerment movement that’s happening right now. However, these classics have undergone a modern transformation fueled by a love of '80s maximalism and designers have added a luxe twist to everything from ready-to-wear to accessories. To sum up the mood, it’s all about balancing the strong and powerful with the ...Read more.
I love Kendra Scott. Her and her jewelry. Kendra is one inspiring woman, entrepreneur and mom. And, if you aren't familiar with her story, it's a good one. She started her jewelry business when she was a 19-year-old new mom with $500 in her spare bedroom and grew it into the billion-dollar company it is today. Kendra runs the business by the values of "Family, Fashion & Philanthropy," and believes firmly that family (her family and every employees') must come first. This resonates throughout the company along with giving back to the community. (To hear more from Kendra herself, watch my interview with her from a few ...Read more.
Red carpet season officially kicked off this week with the 70th Annual Emmy Awards! Our favorite stars were in the mood for romance in ethereal gowns. Pink was a popular color choice, from pastel to magenta. We also saw monochromatic looks in white and always-sophisticated black, plus a number of plunging necklines that left little to the imagination and more elegant strapless gowns. To be honest, more celebs made our "what were they thinking when they chose that" list than our best-dressed... However, at MSL we prefer to focus on the positive, so here are the ladies on our best-dressed list. ...Read more.
Annndddd.... we're back (!!) with our third annual Sip, Shop & Style event hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue and yours truly. Fall is so close we can almost smell the plethora of pumpkin products in the air... or is that our pumpkin marshmallow spice candle we picked up at Bath & Body Works wafting on the A/C air current as we try to stay cool in our Phoenix 100 degree + temps.... any-who, we are THRILLED to announce that MSL is teaming up with Saks once again to host “Sip, Shop & Style” on September 28th in Phoenix! Last year’s event was a blast and everyone that came walked away with the latest intel on ...Read more.
