Taming the Crop Top for Fall
The crop top was everywhere this spring and summer. EVERYWHERE. Street style stars and 20-something starlets embraced it. Others wore it in a more conservative fashion with just a sliver of skin showing. The majority of women just didn’t go there because, frankly, it is not the easiest style to wear. But, great news — the new way to wear the crop top for fall is to layer it with a shirt underneath. (But don’t tuck it in!) This is a way EVERYONE can wear the crop top without fear or “is-it-really-okay-for-me-to-wear-this?” misgivings. Some crop tops even have the second layer built in, which takes the guesswork out of styling. The layered crop top works for the office or weekend.
Ready to “rock the crop,” we took a few of our favorites and updated them for fall.
Top, Band of Outsiders // Blouse, REISS // Pants, J Brand // Shoes, Alice + Olivia // Clutch, Nina Ricci
Top, Milly // Blouse, Mango // Skirt, Mango (Only $50) // Bootie, Sole Society // Handbag, Tory Burch
Stylist Tip: If you are petite or want to downplay your mid-section, consider wearing the underneath layer in the same color as the crop top to get a slimmer, more elongated look.
