Angela’s Lab | Best & Worst of the Globes
Okay, I’m a little late to the party with my red carpet favorites at this year’s Golden Globes, but the fam and I went skiing on Sunday. Family fun first, right? At the official kick-off to awards season, there were a number of standout trends that ruled the red carpet, including plunging necklines (Zendaya! Jenna!), cutouts (JLaw!), sequins, all white, and last but not least, capes.
These ladies owned the red carpet!
Zendaya | One of our favorite Disney Channel stars, Zendaya stunned in this Marchesa gown. The low-cut, fitted top is the ideal counterpoint to the voluminious, tiered-ruffle skirt. Plus, she kept her hair and jewelry simple, and let the gown stand on its own. Good call. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Brie Larson | Oh to be 26 again, and have glowing skin and this girl’s bod! A red carpet newcomer, Brie looked amazing in this Oscar-inspired, sparkly gown by Calvin Klein. A sure sign of things to come at the Academy Awards. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Jenna Dewan-Tatum | Jenna channels a modern-day princess in this starlit gown by Zuhair Murad. The plunging neckline takes it from simply glamorous to daring, and her simple up-do and accessories are the perfect accents. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Amber Heard | Amber looked goddess-like in her gorgeous, floaty, floral-embellished gown by Gucci. And her retro hair was perfection. Photo Credit: John Shearer, Getty Images
Jennifer Lawrence | JLaw rocked this red column dress with perfectly-placed cutouts by Dior Couture. I love her simple, sleek hair and statement diamond collar necklace, which is the perfect finishing touch. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Not so great…
Cate Blanchett | Cate is generally one of my choices for best-dressed, so this bizarre gown choice is disappointing. Not flattering. Too much. This Givenchy Couture dress wore her. Enough said. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Kate Hudson | Kate has an amazing physique, but this dress doesn’t do much for her. The color is a wash against her skin and it just shows too much. Looks like a bikini with a long skirt. Save it for the Grammys. Photo Credit: Jason Merritt, Getty Images
