Q: I have a couple of girlfriends that I exchange gifts with that are so hard to buy for — they have “everything.” Any suggestions?? — Rachel S.

A: We all have friends (and family members) like this — every year it’s a challenge to come up with something new and unique. The more you can make the gift personal to their likes and taste, the better. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an expensive gift if it’s a thoughtful and personal one. Ask yourself: What does she like to do in her spare time? What does she do for work? What sort of gifts does she give you? How much do you plan to spend?
