Angela’s Lab | Time to pARTy!
The social season has officially begun and it’s hard to keep up with all the events, galas and celebratory cocktail and dinner parties this time of year. Especially when you’re a mom and your kids’ calendar rivals your own, from music recitals and soccer games to special holiday happenings like the Nutcracker Ballet and Polar Express that you don’t want to miss out on. In the midst of the holiday whirlwind, you strive to maintain some semblance of organization and a normal schedule for your kids, at least until school lets out for winter break. As a result, I pick and choose which adult events I attend, particularly when they land on a school night.
The Phoenix Art Museum’s pARTy 2015 pre-party kick-off on October 29 was one that fell into the must-attend category and it didn’t disappoint. Held at a stunning private residence in Paradise Valley, guests were treated to a preview of the Andy Warhol “Portraits” Exhibit, which opens at the museum in March 2015, and a signature, Marilyn-Monroe-inspired cocktail called “The Kiss.” Love the lip embellishment on the rim.

Models from the FORD/Robert Black agency stunned in vintage fashions from Vintage Fashion, Inc. owned by David Sheflin. There were so many amazing retro looks and, in an ode to Warhol himself, the models wore white bobbed wigs, the perfect finishing touch. Personally, I am coveting the animal-print furs the most, but the darling red shift dress also has my attention.
Partygoers were dressed in a range of looks from flippy skirts and cocktail dresses to backless column gowns. I decided to go for a more modern look, donning my Marchesa jumpsuit with a lace overlay and patent croc-embossed Prada booties (similar here and here).
The Phoenix Art Museum’s big annual fundraiser, the actual pARTy 2015 gala is planned for February 28, just prior to the opening of the Warhol exhibition. For more details on the gala and how to get tickets, visit the museum’s website.
